Here's an interesting story from today's Washington Post about a recent ceremony at a Hindu temple in Lanham, Md.
The main reason I, as an American Buddhist, am calling your attention to an account of a ceremony that honors an extremely important Hindu text is that the text is the Bhagavad Gita, some of whose ideas seem to be Buddhist concepts expressed in Hindu theistic terms. Of course, the overarching theme of devotion to a deity did not have its roots in Buddhism, but the Bhagavad Gita does much to incorporate Buddhist ideas of release from suffering into a Hindu vocabulary.
Peace,
Tor
