Maine State Representative Ken Lindell, Republican of Frankfort, has an op-ed piece in the Bangor Daily News promoting LD 1900, An Act to Allow the Importation of Wine. Lindell was once active in the Maine Libertarian Party, and it's easy to see that he's keeping the faith, despite the R that now hangs after his name. (He has also put forward legislation to place lower requirements for the establishment and maintenance of third-party political status in the state).
Of course, wine is already being imported into Maine. It's just illegal to ship it directly to the end consumer. Lindell does a wonderful job of debunking the myths about the wine-shipping business, so rather repeat what he says, I'll just direct you to his piece.
Peace,
Tor
